Municipal Tax Search Requests

During a real estate closing, attorneys, title companies, or abstract companies may request a Municipal Tax Search from the Village of Pittsford. This search provides information from Village records regarding the property's current municipal financial status.

A Municipal Tax Search may include:

Outstanding Village water and sewer charges.
Unpaid Village taxes or special assessments, if applicable.
Other municipal charges or liens maintained in Village records that may affect the property.

The information provided by the Village is used by the closing attorney or title company to:

Determine outstanding municipal balances due at closing.
Assist in prorating Village taxes and charges between the buyer and seller.
Facilitate payment of any outstanding Village obligations through the closing process.
