Want to Know About the Refuse District?

Village Refuse District Launching June 1, 2025

The Village of Pittsford’s refuse district officially launches June 1, 2025. This initiative has been several years in the making, with public discussion and Board review dating back to 2021. After extensive outreach, surveys, and public meetings, the Board of Trustees voted to move forward with a district-wide program to streamline trash and recycling services for all residents.

All residential properties will now receive weekly trash and recycling pickup through a single provider: Seyrek Disposal, recently acquired by Casella Waste Systems.

What to Expect:

  • Weekly Monday pickups for both trash and recycling.

Each household receives:

  • One 96-gallon wheeled trash tote

  • One 64-gallon wheeled recycling tote

  • Residents may upgrade to a larger recycling tote for $5/month (billed directly).
  • Residents who wish to switch out the 96-gallon trash tote for a smaller size may request an exchange and will be placed on a waiting list. Please note that smaller totes may be back-ordered depending on supplier availability, and delivery times may vary.

Cost:

  • A flat annual fee of $349.14 per household will appear on your Village tax bill.

Need to dispose of large or extra items?

  • Up to five additional 30-gallon bags may be placed outside your tote each week.

  • Bulky item pickups are available by request and will incur an additional fee.

Contact Seyrek Directly at (585) 720-0978 or office@seyrekdisposal.com for:

  • Tote swaps or upgrades

  • Scheduling bulky item pickups

  • Service updates or holiday schedule changes

This program is the result of a multi-year process and community input, designed to improve efficiency, reduce confusion, and provide a uniform level of service across the Village. For questions, please contact Village Hall at (585) 586-4332.
